Here in Florida – we rarely use the heat. The burning smell is most likely due to 8+ months of dust building up on the coils. This dust burns off relatively quickly and there is no need to worry. If the burning smell is greter than normal. Turn off your equipment immediately as there could be an electrical fire inside your system. Again, this is uncommon, but if you see smoke – it is better to be safe. Keeping a clean filter and having your Air Conditoning and Heating equipment serviced regularly by Air & Electrical Services is a good way to ensure your heating system is ready when you need it.
